Global Consciousness Project

Registering Coherence and Resonance in the World

Could there be such a thing as Global Consciousness? We know that groups of people sometimes experience a special resonance of feelings and ideas, and some recent scientific evidence indicates that effects of coherent group consciousness can be measured with appropriate instruments. The Global Consciousness Project (GCP) is an international collaboration of researchers who are studying extraordinary qualities of consciousness. Our goal is to extend this research to global dimensions via the Internet.

The GCP uses new technology and methods designed to record and visualize effects of events that may stimulate a world-wide consciousness. Examples of past events include the funeral ceremonies of Princess Diana, the opening of the Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, a few minutes around midnight at New Years, 1999, and the first hour of NATO bombing on the 24th of March, 1999 in Kosovo. It will come as no surprise that we predict the turn of the Millenium will have a measurable effect in the subtle realms of interconnected human consciousness.
