Toning on Valentine's Day 2008

gain we have taken an exploratory look at the possibility for toning to create the kind of coherence that we think of as a global consciousness which might affect the GCP network. A widely publicized gathering of people interested in toning was set for February 14, 2008. Once again the major organizer was Jonathan Goldman, who is the foremost proponent of toning as a means to spiritual resonance and growth.

He says, "As in previous World Sound Healing Days, this is a day when people throughout the planet will take five minutes to send a Sonic Valentine to the Earth with the heart sound "AH" filled with the intention of Peace and Love! I think you will agree that now, more than ever, we need to consciously project sound to the planet in order to assist in co-creating peace and harmony."

As was the case for the 2007 event, we set an exploratory hypothesis test for the 24 hour UTC day. The result has Chisquare 86101.201 on 86400 df, for p = 0.764 and Z=-0.716. The outcome is thus slightly negative, and not interpretable as evidence for an effect for this event. However, the result is very similar to that for 2007, and moreover has some similarity of concept to focused meditation events, which also tend to have a negative trend. Please note also that for single events our signal to noise ratio is too small for reliable, so while there is a growing suggestion of consistency the result should not be taken as evidence. It seems very clear to me that by far the most sensitive indicator of effects from meditation or toning events is the perceptions of people -- we are more sensitive than any scientific instrument for such effects.
